We’ve finally had some great weather here at The Three Spaniels so the recently installed IBC is starting to earn it’s keep. Clever ole Dave has connected it to our ‘free’ water supply that runs across our land from a spring next door. This water feeds a trough which we’ve tapped into, and now I can fill the IBC when the water is running freely (which it does quite a lot!) ready for drier times. Of course, the poly tunnel needs watering almost daily but the IBC is just a few yards from the veg plot which makes the watering a lot less exhausting - thank you Dave!
Inside the tunnel the tomatoes are really taking over and I have to admit that I might grown a few too many!! But the fruits are coming along nicely, I’ll be testing lots of different tomato recipes once they start to ripen.
After a slow start the aubergines have had a bit of a growth spurt too. It looked for a while that we were only going to get one flower but happily a few more have now appeared. The French beans too are almost ready to harvest, and a couple of cucumbers have started peeping out from beneath the foliage.
Outside the carrots have shot up during the recent sunshine, alas, so have the weeds! At least they will give me something to do.
